Do you need help with your child’s distance learning? Do you want your child to have the opportunity to socialize and engage with like-minded peers during these uncertain times? We’re here to help!
HEROES Academy is offering a Managed Distance Learning option for the 2020 – 2021 Academic Year. We’ll manage your child’s distance learning to ensure that they are attentive during video classes, completing their assignments, and submitting them using their school’s preferred application. We’ll also provide homework help to students as needed. If students need extensive assistance with their course work, private tutoring may be added on for an additional charge.
Students will have access to our extensive collection of classroom manipulatives and school supplies. In addition, we’ll provide students with intellectually stimulating and engaging activities to complete after their required work is completed.
What days is this program available?
At this time, we’re offering this option on Wednesdays from 8 AM to 6 PM.
At HEROES, we’re committed to providing quality programming to gifted and talented students. In order to ensure the quality of our programming, we take our time to plan before launching something new. We may add additional days as the school year progresses.
What day does Managed Distance Learning start?
Our first day will be on September 16, 2020. We’re moving into a brand new facility. Due to COVID-19, construction will be done a bit later than we had hoped. We need time to put our classrooms together before inviting students into our facility. As such, our Managed Distance Learning Option will begin the first Wednesday after our weekend classes begin.
Is this program available to any student?
Students must qualify for HEROES to participate in our managed distance learning program. Your child may qualify for HEROES by submitting scores from the NWEA MAP test, CogAT, WISC, Stanford Binet, or Woodcock Johnson Test of Cognitive Abilities.
My child has to go to school every other Wednesday, can they still participate?
Absolutely! We’re offering parents the option to enroll their students for every other week. So, if you’re in a town like Monroe Twp that has students attending school on alternating Wednesdays, your child can still benefit from this program. We just ask that you make a four week commitment.
Will HEROES still have weekend classes available?
Yes. Our weekend math and language arts programs will continue as planned. You can read more about our plans for the 2020-2021 Academic Year here.
What policies does HEROES have in place to keep my child safe and healthy?
At HEROES, we’re committed to keeping your child safe and healthy while maintaining an engaging classroom environment. Our facility has two classrooms. Each classroom can facilitate up to 16 students, as per NJDOE standards. For this program, we’ll only be accepting a total of eight students.
