Essay Writing II

Students practice writing essays using the following organization strategies:

  • Cause-Effect
  • Problem-Solution
  • Chronological
  • Compare-Contrast
  • Topical

Students work on a long-term web-design project, requiring students to organize, write, and revise several essays on different aspects of a given topic.  Emphasis is placed on eradicating erroneous modifiers (adjectives and adverbs), replacing linking verbs with action verbs, removing redundant content, varying sentence structure, using phrasal modifiers, and removing personal pronouns in objective writing assignments.
